Who funds Quantum Technology?

Technologists now question the government’s approach to awarding tens of millions of dollars in additional funding for quantum computing. FedScoop spoke to Quantum Xchange CEO, John Prisco on the topic.

Prisco told FedScoop he would like to see more of those funds put towards a  quantum-proof solution at the Department of Energy. In order to protect critical infrastructure and data acquisition, Prisco recommends the use of quantum distribution keys (QDK) as arguably the most mature quantum technology to date.

To protect communication channels like the FBI, quantum computers can work as an offensive weapon against cryptography, however, quantum keys are used as a defense system to protect now and in the future. Quantum Xchange is the first commercial QKD system in the US, with a 1,00-kilometer fiber network from Boston to Washington, DC.
