The Phio TX® data sheet: architecture, form factors, and NIST-validated for adding post-quantum key delivery to the infrastructure you already run

Harvest Now, Decrypt Later is a problem that needs to be addressed today. Phio TX is FIPS 140-3 and FIPS 203 validated and it deploys as a quantum secure layer on existing network infrastructure – with no downtime, no hardware replacement, and no impact on network performance. It gives security teams centralized visibility and control over cryptographic assets, and the cryptoagility to adapt as PQC standards evolve and algorithms change.

FAQ

What is Phio TX?

Phio TX is Quantum XChange’s cryptographic management platform for post-quantum network security. It delivers strong symmetric keys out of band, separate from the data plane, and adds quantum-safe protection to existing networks without replacing routers or switches. It supports quantum-safe MACsec and IPsec VPNs.

How do you add post-quantum cryptography to an existing network?

Adding post-quantum cryptography to an existing network works best as an overlay rather than a replacement. Phio TX connects to your current routers and switches, offloads post-quantum key exchange, and uses standard protocols like SKIP and ETSI, so your devices need minimal configuration changes and operations continue.

What is harvest now, decrypt later?

Harvest now, decrypt later is an attack in which adversaries collect encrypted data today and store it until quantum computers can break the encryption. Data with a long secrecy horizon is already at risk. Phio TX addresses it by hardening asymmetric encryption (RSA and ECC).  It generates a strong symmetric key and delivers it out-of-band across a separate plane from the data.

What is out-of-band key delivery, and why does it protect existing encryption?

Out-of-band key delivery sends encryption keys on a path separate from the data they protect. Phio TX supplements native encryption with an additional key-encrypting key transmitted independently of the data path, which helps make existing encryption environments and the data they carry impervious to quantum attacks.

What is crypto-agility, and why does it matter for PQC?

Crypto-agility is the ability to change cryptographic algorithms as standards and threats evolve. Phio TX supports multiple algorithms at the same time and lets you change them on the fly, without changes to endpoints or disruption to network operations. It also accepts quantum keys from any source, including PQC, QKD, and QRNG.

Which post-quantum solutions are validated to FIPS 203 and FIPS 140-3?

Phio TX is the industry’s first NIST-validated FIPS 203 end-to-end PQC solution, and it supports all versions of the ML-KEM algorithm. It also holds NIST validation for the FIPS 140-3 cryptographic module standard, with hardware validated at Level 2.

Does Phio TX support quantum-safe MACsec and IPsec VPNs?

Yes, Phio TX enables quantum-safe MACsec and IPsec virtual private networks. It works in on-premises, hybrid, and cloud networks, and it integrates with existing infrastructure through standard key management protocols such as SKIP and ETSI.

How is Phio TX deployed?

Phio TX is available in multiple form factors. There is a 1U secure hardware appliance as well as software for running on virtual machines in the cloud or on on-premises. There is also a container option called Phio TX-EM for Cisco devices that support SKIP and third-party container applications. Have questions about your own network?
