Back to School – A Quantum Security Prospectus

It’s back to school time! While kids prepare to return to the classroom, cybersecurity professionals should also use this time of year to hone their skills and get educated on the next big trend or threat to IT security. 2022 will be here before you know it. Now is the time to begin mapping your IT security roadmap and budgetary priorities for the year ahead.

As the Information Age makes way for the Quantum Age of computing, cybersecurity professionals must start to prepare for the greatest cryptographic transition in history – the day when a quantum computer breaks today’s encryption standards.  Nobody argues if this will happen, only when.  Don’t be left unprepared.

Unlike Y2K, when there was a definitive deadline and end date to work against, Y2Q – the day a quantum computer arrives and can break current encryption standards – is ambiguous causing too many companies to take a lackadaisical, wait-and-see attitude to quantum preparedness planning and execution. Many are waiting for the Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) selection process by the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) to yield the final standard before they take action. “Complacency disguised as confidence” is no way to be. It puts our enterprises, digital economy, and national security at risk.

Quantum Xchange has pulled together a series of educational materials to help you boost your quantum security knowledge, prepare your organization for Q-Day, and learn how to simultaneously overcome the inherent vulnerabilities of legacy encryption with quantum-safe key delivery available today.

In coming weeks, Quantum Xchange will launch a series of informative eBooks on relevant topics designed to take the anxiety and complexity out of post-quantum security planning. Topics will include how to avoid premature system obsolescence when undergoing a network upgrade, Space as the final frontier of cybersecurity, and why quantum security should be on your next board meeting agenda.

In the meantime, we encourage you to visit the Quantum Xchange newsroom for the latest news, opinions, awards, and resources or subscribe to our monthly newsletter.
