Quantum Xchange Showcases its Groundbreaking Quantum-Safe Key Management System at MIT Future Compute

Phio TX Brings Crypto-Agility and Quantum Safety to Encryption;

 Enables Organizations to be Quantum Safe Today and Quantum Ready for Tomorrow’s Threats

Bethesda, Md. and Cambridge, Mass. – Dec. 2, 2019 – As a pioneer of unbreakable encryption, Quantum Xchange was asked to address the audience at the MIT Future Compute Conference happening Dec. 2-3, 2019.  The two-day event brings together business leaders, industry experts, and academics to examine the technologies that are poised to disrupt business over the next 24 months and decipher the risks and opportunities. Day 2, “Future Quantum” will be entirely devoted to quantum computing and its impact on industry including initial applications of the technology and opportunities for future disruption.

As a leading provider of quantum-safe products and services to secure an organization’s communication channels and the high-value data it carries, Quantum Xchange’s CEO John Prisco will present the session, “Securing Lines of Communication,” on Dec. 3 at 12:10 p.m. ET.  The session will discuss Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), the only provably secure and absolute method for sharing a secret key between two entities; its commercial implementations; and why, from a national security perspective, the U.S. must devote resources to build the hack-proof quantum communication networks of the future.

Whether quantum computers capable of breaking today’s encryption emerge in three, five or 10 years, businesses and government agencies must start preparing now. Judging from past cryptographic evolutions (such as the shift from RSA 1024 to RSA 2048, or from SHA-1 to SHA-256), these transitions can take years, even decades – putting any organization that is developing systems that rely on cryptography at risk.

At the event, Quantum Xchange will also introduce its revolutionary quantum-safe key management system, Phio™ Trusted Xchange (TX). The patent-pending Phio TX out-of-band symmetric key delivery enables fault-tolerant and load-balanced, point-to-multipoint, quantum-safe key transmissions across any distance, using any network topology (fiber, wireless, copper, free-space, satellite). By separating the data from the key delivery channel, brute-force quantum computer attacks are practically impossible. Combining keys delivered inline by traditional methods, and a second pair of quantum keys out-of-band using Phio TX, improves the security of any key exchange method of choice and is uniquely capable of making traditional crypto keys quantum-safe.

“Organizations are recognizing the emerging security threat of quantum computers but are looking for an incremental approach to quantum security,” said John Prisco, CEO of Quantum Xchange. “Fortunately, with Phio TX enterprises don’t need to introduce significant changes or rip-and-replace their existing security infrastructure in order to achieve quantum safety capable of scaling with their needs. ”

Phio TX overcomes the two critical barriers that have hindered QKD’s commercial use – distance and point-to-point only transmissions – while also offering organizations a crypto-agile, key management system that allows organizations to quantum proof their existing encryption environment today. Phio TX is vendor agnostic and can work with any QKD vendor’s keys, as well as the Quantum Random Number Generator (QRNG) and quantum resistant algorithms.

The independent analyst and consultancy firm Ovum recently authored the research brief, Quantum Xchange’s Key Management Play for Quantum Crypto, examining Phio TX’s market introduction and how it enables companies to take the necessary steps now in the direction of quantum security.

About Quantum Xchange

Quantum Xchange gives commercial enterprises and government agencies the ultimate solution for secure communications and a dynamic, crypto-agile network to meet evolving business requirements.  It is the only company in the world to make Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) commercially viable by solving the distance limitations inherent with all other QKD offerings. With Phio, the first quantum-ready network in the U.S. and only to support QKD across any distance, and featuring Phio TX, a revolutionary technology that enables organizations to select the level of protection needed based on their risk tolerance, Quantum Xchange is raising the bar for secure communications.  With a dynamic security infrastructure in place, organizations can enhance their existing encryption environment while seamlessly scaling to address quantum readiness with QKD at any time, across any distance, between multiple transmission points.  Learn more about the future of security realized today, visit QuantumXC.com or follow us on Twitter @Quantum_Xchange.
